International Delight® supports Wind Energy Offsets
By working with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), we have been able to harness the power of renewable energy sources.
As of July 1, 2008, International Delight is offsetting 50% of our annual greenhouse gas emissions created in the production of our product by supporting the generation of wind energy going onto the grid.
During 2008, we'll offset 6,107 metric tons of CO2. That's the equivalent of planting approximately 1,890 acres of trees.
During 2009, we'll offset 12,214 metric tons of CO2. The equivalent of taking 2,594 cars off the road for a year.
The Bonneville Environmental Foundation, a non-profit organization, was established in 1998 to restore watershed ecosystems and further the development and use of new renewable energy resources. With the goal of powering change, BEF reduces dependency on fossil fuels by adopting clean, environmentally friendly sources of energy. Through revenues generated from the sales of green power products, BEF funds projects that restore damaged watersheds and support new renewable energy projects from solar, wind and biomass. BEF pioneered the sale of Renewable Energy Certificates, also called Green Tags, in 2000 and has helped establish national standards for certification and trading.
