Home brewing with a Press Pot: part 2

Using a Press Pot is really a simple matter.  First I recommend pre-heating your Press Pot.  You can use hot tap water for this step since you are just using it to warm up the brewing equipment.  Next us the standard 2 Tbsp. to 6 oz. coffee to water ratio.  Be sure to use the freshest coffee possible.  Make sure that you use a coarse grind, too fine a grind will clog the screen and make it hard to plunge down.  Pour a little bit of hot water over the grinds and watch them bloom for a second.  Then pour in a little more and stir or swirl it around to make sure you don’t have any clumps.  Fill it up the rest of the way and pop the lid on.  After about 4-6 minutes you can plunge the screen down and pour yourself of some amazing coffee.
