Get out there and blog.

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

Hey everybody, I wanted to post a few pics from the recent BlogHer ’10 convention that International Delight and I attended in New York. I also wanted to talk to all of you about just how easy it is to blog.  Blogging can be a whole lot of fun and is generally very rewarding.  All you really need is something interesting to blog about. I am a coffee geek therefore I blog about coffee.  Find your niche and try it out.  At the very least you will get your voice heard.  Check out http://www.blogher.com/how-blog-better-archive for more information, and tips on how to get started.

Coffee In America

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010
Since August is National Coffee Month, let’s talk a bit about why coffee came to be so important in America. The presence of coffee in America dates back to the Revolutionary War. When the war against the British broke out and Americans could no longer have their cup of tea, they switched to readily available coffee. Coffee has long been a member of America’s war efforts: During the Civil War, many Union soldiers had their rifles modified to hold a compact coffee grinder in the stock. During both World Wars the United States actually set up coffee roasting plants overseas to ensure that soldiers were getting fresh coffee in the European Theatre. Coffee helped fuel our industrial and economic revolution as a country. Before the New York Stock Exchange existed, there was the New York Coffee Exchange. Coffee has become the second most traded commodity in the world. To say that coffee is an important drink to America is an understatement. America is a country that has grown up with coffee.
